Beyonce Formation Feminist?



The definition of feminism is the advocacy of women's rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes.

We can argue that in Beyonce Formation we hear the intro of  “Booking the Hoes from New Wildin'.” The video was originally uploaded with reference to the New Orleans comedy show “New Wildin’s.”
Barre is better known by his social media handle Messy Mya.
Messy Mya is a New Orleans native, who was tragically gunned down and killed when he was leaving his girlfriend’s baby shower in New Orleans' 7th Ward in 2010 and in Formation into we here Beyonce say: “What happened at the New Wil’ins?” which queries Messy Mya death, which Beyoncé encourages us to hear as a question about the comedian’s unsolved murder as well as a question about the city and black folks and the South: “What happened after New Orleans?” This shows to us that she isn't a feminist as we see her bringing up a tragic incident on a black male and we can argue she is fighting for race more than gender.

On 2003’s “Public Service Announcement,” Jay Z also proudly announced he had the “hottest chick in the game” wearing his chain. By claiming that she wears Jay’s chain as a symbol of her possessiveness, Bey flips the script as Female empowerment is a theme in Beyonce’s songs (check out “Run the World” and many others), dating back to her Destiny’s Child days. The chain embrasses the complete opposite which isn't very feminist

Is Riptide Postmodern?

Is Riptide Postmodern? The use of the smeared makeup on the actor who is performing the song riptide in some clips helps exaggerate postmodernism as it makes the music video a parody of jazz music which tends to have that sort of microphone and we know jazz to have been through struggle, we are majorly used to seeing the performer in their best form looking their best while performing, however the smeared makeup gives off a comic effect to the audience leaving them confused and unsure of what has gone on with the actors face.  The use of the scene of them shooting a music video helps exaggerate postmodernism as it refers to self reflexivity this is shown as it is unusual to have a music video being shot inside a music video and the whip pan of the woman and the man and her turning round helps gives of the effect of wherever she is everyone is watching and we know there is some sort of production being shot as at the beginning of the whip pan we actually see the camera present in o
