1.       Are there any elements of coherence in the narrative? (Potential theories/ideas to use: Todorov and Postmodernism)  The music video shows no coherence in the narrative and doesn't relate to Todorov's theory due there being no clear narative and things like the setting is left a mystery and scenes have no sort of relation at all which relates to having a disjointed narrative the idea of thing being left in simulation (make belief)  2.       What ‘message’ does the video contains? Refer to Barthes in your notes. Eye-line match is when we see the women playing the piano look at the puppet police fighting the puppet black males and we are then shown the fighting after we see a reaction shot which captures her reaction to the violence which we could infer as in shock due to her gobsmacked facial expression and sort of trying to avoid the violence by going into a sort of ducking position which connotes fear towards the violence and she would be gobsmacked because she appears privileged due to her expensive looking costume and wouldn't be used to violence because of her privileges. The use of the prop of the button which is attached to the white policemen helps exaggerate police brutality as we are presented with the policeman hitting the black male in the head which isn't right from the policeman as it is only to be used as self defence and not as a weapon to start fights; this helps create sympathy towards black people.  We see an eye-line match of the two blackface puppets tak...

Research on Huck Magazine and Woman's Realm.

Women Realm.  Woman's Realm was a British weekly women's magazine first published in 1958. One of the editors-in-chief was Joyce Wards. In 2001 it was merged with Woman's Weekly. The Belle & Sebastian song "Women's Realm" makes reference to this magazine The woman's realm shut because it had only 155,000 sales which wasn't sufficient enough to carry on the magazine as the sales dropped from before.  Woman's realm magazine sales dropped because it lost touch to modern women it wasn't applicable to modern women and people lost interest.
